 Damaged before shipment Nov 17, 2011

This bench arrived with a large piece of the veneer chipped off the top revealing the cheap particle board construction beneath. Both of the boxes it was packed in (an excellent double boxed packing job) were in pristine condition. This suggests that the bench was packaged in this very visibly damaged state. I had read the other reviews about the poor quality of Cameron & Sons' furniture and of other orders arriving damaged and had hoped that they were the exception to the rule. That was my mistake. This company clearly needs to work on their quality control.

It was so defective that it defies imagination as to how it could've passed QA! One of the hinges on the cover was twisted and the whole cover was mounted crooked. One corner of the bench was also damaged/smashed, but there was no damage to any of the packaging. To the vendor's credit, they made the return very easy. The also shipped quickly. I'd use this vendor again, but wouldn't purchase this product.

I just opened the box to peek before sending it to my daughter and grandson in South America. It looked very nice. They bought a "shiny black" piano for my grandson, but it didn't come with a bench, so this "shiny black" bench will look very nice in their home. I don't have any reason to think it isn't sturdy enough to seat student and teacher for his lessons, and mom and kid for duets. The box seat was just right for slipping in a few paperback books and shirts for the trip to Chile. The price and weight are perfect for having to be sent far away, and the packing box had a handle built in! Hooray.
