3Good bench, but a bit wobbly when raised to max height.  Nov 10, 2008 By P. J. Hauser
For the price, this is a pretty good bench. I was looking for something that was reasonably priced and could be adjusted, and this fit the bill.

Pros:
Looks nice and the adjustment range is very wide.

Easy to assemble, and even comes with a wrench.

Cons:
When adjusted to the maximum height, the bench can wobble a bit when shifting from the low end to the high end of the keyboard. It's not a big deal, but there is a noticable shift that occurs. (It is rock solid when set to the lowest position, if that happens to be the height you need.)

When raised up at all, there is a gap between the padded part of the bench and the base. I knew this would be the case and have considered tacking on some black fabric to hide the gap. Still, if that's a big issue you would need to spend more for a bench design that doesn't show a gap when raised.

One other thing is that the unit doesn't look quite as good as the picture. It's pretty close, but there are only 6 buttons on the padding on the unit I received, while there are 10 in the ad.

Overall, I am satisfied with this bench. If I had it to do over again I would probably save up more money and get a higher quality bench. But for the money, this one is pretty good.

5Terrific!  Aug 22, 2008 By Jennifer
My son started piano lessons 3 years ago and he was using a keyboard bench. I didn't realize that he would not get much use out of it for too long. They are very unstable and tip sideways. When my son starting doing scales/arpeggios and pieces that moved his fingers to different octaves, he was having a hard time staying on the bench. I ordered this adjustable piano bench and it is terrific. I wish I had ordered this from his very first lesson. He is only 7 so he needs to raise the seat and this one is so simple to raise. You can even do it while he is sitting dwon as there are knobs on both sides of the bench. There is even a storage area. The bench looks much more expensive than it costs. I highly recommend it.

10/2010/UPDATE: I was reviewing another product on my account and the price of this piano bench caught my eye. It is now for sale for $349.95 (at date of this current entry), I paid about $179.95. I just don't want anyone becoming confused about the part of my previous review where I wrote "The bench looks much more expensive than it costs." Obviously, at $349., it now looks as expensive as it costs : ) Maybe the price was incorrect when I bought it and they fixed it.

1Very low quality  Apr 11, 2011 By A. Meller "alexmeller"
The good:
you can comfortably sit on the bench, the hight is adjustable and there is a storage compartment. Inexpensive (it was $120 on Amazon when I bought it).

The bad:
build quality is terrible. I cannot believe this is factory production. In fact, I have never seen so poorly made piece of furniture before.
1) The paint is uneven and chips off in several places right out of the box
2) The top ends of the legs are not painted at all and look ugly in elevated position
3) Wood screws that are used to attach metal frame to wooden body are all misaligned and installed at random angles. Philips heads on most screws are broken
4) One of two handles used to adjust height has a crack
5) Bolts that are used to attach legs to the body (as the part of home assembly) are too short and don't allow to use both the washer and spring washer supplied with the bench. I had to install nuts on washers omitting spring washers.
6) The height adjustment screw is not straight.

I didn't return it only because I needed a bench urgently.

Avoid!

Update 7/13/2011
Buttons on the sitting surface started falling off...

5Great bench, great price  Jul 15, 2011 By RS
Good quality, easy to assemble, and great price. Perfect for my 2nd grader. And comfy for my 200-lb self.

4Very pleased but not 100%  Dec 09, 2010 By NewReviewer
I am very pleased with the quality and value of this adjustable piano bench. So far, my only complaints are that the hinge does not lock open and the seat is not a shiny leather as shown in the picture. It is more of a soft vinyl with a leather look. It was easy to assemble, adjusts nicely, the fabric lining is a beautiful, red velvet and the paint finish is very glossy. You cannot beat the price for the value PLUS I got free shipping. Comparison shopping of same brand resulted in $500 price tag!
