This is the second piece of children's furniture I have purchased by this company (KidKraft) and I feel comfortable in recommending them and their wares highly. I am not good at reading directions or putting things together, but this really was very simple to put together and the instructions were great (easy to follow steps and pictures). The bench is lovely; solid, pretty, roomy. Really a perfect addition to our toddler's room. Great find! Note that while we are using this for our son's toys, it is sturdy and attractive enough to use anywhere in the house - it's not just for kids.

 Smells... Even after 3 months!!! Feb 09, 2011

We thought this would be great to store our daughters toys in. How wrong we were! When the package arrived, everything was included. No dings, scratches or parts missing everything was looking good... but the toxic smell was something else! We assembled the bench anyway thinking that once it had aired out it would be fine... After a few days we even washed the bench and cleaned it with simple green... They smell remains. 3 months on we still can't use it. Anything we put inside the bins pick up the toxic smell and as everything goes in our daughters mouth we just don't want the risk. Why didn't we return it? We would of if it wasn't for the fact A. The product is fully assembled and packaging long gone and B. We live in Hawaii.
This is a good, sturdy little unit. It looks great and perfect size for little ones... If only it didn't smell so bad!!!

My 9 yr old daughter and I put this together, the assembly instructions that come with any kidkraft product are awesome! every hole is predrilled exactly where it needs to be. pieces are clearly labeled with numbers and pictures for assembly instructions are great! It is a very nice quality piece of furniture. We purchased SEVERAL kidkraft product this holiday season, and found EVERY single one to be very high quality, with clear assembly instructions, and a great price! Would recommend their company any day!

KidKraft Nantucket Storage Bench
I bought these storage bins previously for my 3 year old and was thrilled with the quality so I ordered more for my one year old's room. I bought two of them, one for him to get his clothes out of and one for his toys. This time the quality was very different than the first time I had ordered it for my first son. Some of the panels were thin bits of cardboard like material, very easily breakable. A lot of the pre-drilled holes were poorly done. Some of the holes did not line up, others flat out were over drilled with a bit that was too large so the screws were useless. I'm usually a fan of Kidcraft, this time it was a huge disapointment and I doubt I'll invest in them again in the future. They've let the quality of their work slip severely.

The bench is relatively sturdy, though I would not put a ton on weight on it. The storage is good and the overall look is very nice.
