4Good deal and nice quality  Nov 03, 2010 By Elizsa
I originally found this bench on hayneedle for $160 and paid $113 here on amazon so I really feel like I got a bargain. Most of the bench is real oak wood except the inside storage area and the front squares. The quality is pretty nice and the finish matches my kitchen cabinets. The only downside to this is that the weight limit is 200 pounds but the bench is big enough to seat two people. My husband weighs 195 and me 120 so we haven't both sat on it at the same time. I got a cushion for this bench at hayneedle.com that fits perfectly. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I noticed some people had problems with receiving this damaged but it came in one piece for me.

5Love it!  Jan 14, 2011 By J. Kirk Crofts
I am so happy with my bench. My husband put it together by himself and it looks great. The lids close slowly so my kids wont get their hands slammed in it. Its more durable than I thought it would be for the price. It fits perfectly in my entryway. People that have come over say it looks great. We love it!

5Super  Jan 22, 2010 By John W. Karanza
Very good value for the money. Item was well packaged, arrived on time with no damage. Easy to follow instructions and assembled in about 30 minutes. It is well constructed and does not give the appearance of assembly furniture. We are using the bench's storage compartment for linen storage in the master bedroom. If you have a similar need, you can't go wrong for the price.

5Very Nice Item!  Aug 26, 2011 By wilp3r
I read alot of reviews for a storage bench as I needed one for the family room to be used as a toy storage bin. This bench is a good size and is made very well! I received the item 3 days after I ordered it! This comes in 7 simple pieces and is not made from cheap pressboard; this is real wood. Its great for kids as all edges are soft (rolled). The split-seat opens upward and the hinges keep it in place so the lids do not fall. Packaging was excellent, it isn't very heavy, and the hardware is clearly bagged and tagged. The assembly is simple with only about 15 bolts to tighten plus the screws on the hinges, and you're done. Its a 1 person job and takes about 15-30 minutes depending on your familiarity with assembly. Final product is a sturdy and is an attractive bench which I highly recommend.

Edit / Update: About 6 months or so down the road, the brass hinges started to bend as the spring tension inside the hinge seems too high and the spring itself isn't very flexible. When the lids are closed, the high spring tension: 1. is now keeping the lids from fully closing, 2. the hinges are bending from the pressure, 3. The stress is being put on the box itself. I removed both hinges and the lids still stay open as it leans back against the rear of the bench. My kids have learned to be careful openeing and lowering the lids, until I find replacement "Lid Supports" that do not have such high tension. I did go to an Auto parts store and ran some adhesive weather stripping foam along the enclosures and this works great! Overall still a superb bench!

5Easy assembly opf solid functional furniture  Jan 24, 2011 By Judith M. Paxton "artbyjude"
This bench got put together in about an hour, and I am a 62 year old woman with no particular skills. All the holes are drilled EXACTLY correctly and it is hard to mess it up. Besides that it is even better looking in person than in the photo! I really like it!
