4Good basic bench  Jun 05, 2010 By bibliobob "bibliobob"
On Stage sell two benches that are easy to confuse because they have similar model numbers:

KT7800
Adjustable height: 18.75", 20", 20.50"
Weight capacity: 300 lbs.
Seat: 12" x 17"; 2" cushion
Weight: 11.5 lbs.

KT7800+ On Stage KT7800 Plus Keyboard Bench
Adjustable height: 19", 21", 23", 25"
Weight capacity: 360 lbs.
Seat: 12.5" x 23.5"; 3" cushion
Weight: 14 lbs.

This one (KT7800) is a no-frills basic bench. Each leg has 3 holes for the pivot bolt. Height is adjusted by removing the pivot bolt and reinstalling it with two washers through a different pair of holes. This is not difficult, but if the intent is to adjust it several times a day for different members of the family, I'd choose a different style. The advantage of this design is once you set the height, it remains until you intentionally change it.

One side of the scissor base is permanently attached to the seat with brackets that allow it to pivot; the other side fits into 2 c-shaped brackets. To keep the legs from collapsing when you lift the bench off the floor, you hand tighten a bolt across the opening of each c bracket whenever you set it up; the bolts have plastic knobs. This works fine for most applications. But if I were assembling half a dozen of them several times a day, I'd prefer a single lever latch.

The larger KT7800+ has a different design for adjusting height, best understood by going to the onstagestands web site and entering "KT7800+" in the search box. While there, you might also want to take a quick look at the KT7800; Amazon often displays the wrong photo for this bench.

For home use, I'm happy with the KT7800. It's sturdy and comfortable, utilitarian in appearance with decent workmanship (China), folds for storage or travel, sets up and adjusts easily without tools. Cushion is a bit soft -- maybe too soft for playing guitar or other hand-held instruments. A good value.

4Sturdy, good value  Mar 29, 2010 By David Roehr "_daev"
This is a nicely built, sturdy little bench seat that folds flat for easy storage and transport.
Compared to other low cost benches, it has better seat padding and a better weight capacity of 375 lbs. It's sturdy enough that I use it as a quick step stool, but normal use is for keyboards, occasionally as a drum throne.

Only downside is the height adjustment is a bit awkward; you move the pivot point bolt.

Highly recommended as long as you have light duty/occasional use plans.

5Great little bench.  Dec 26, 2009 By Cute Shoes
Great lightweight, portable, sturdy bench. Perfect for moving around between keyboards or even just for a spare seat when friends show up.

5Just what I needed.  May 11, 2011 By B. L. Lindeman
This is just what I needed. Something comfortable but not expensive. It was easy to put together and works great. I feel like it is a solid bench and it's comfortable too. I've never had an issue and I play piano about 3-4 hours each week.

5Nice present  Dec 30, 2011 By Ann Michelle
I bought this for my son's fiance. She really likes it alot. Seems sturdy. She can't figure out how to adjust the height, but over all she really likes it.
