Description

Strathwood's anti-gravity recliner is designed to provide the same weightless, floating sensations NASA astronauts experience in a gravity-free environment. These reclined, "weightless" positions raise legs, thereby reducing pressure on the spine and relieving muscle tension. Due to a unique locking system, the recliner adjusts to offer infinite back and foot positions. Adding comfort to the chair is a removable pillow to serve as a headrest or lumbar support. Best of all, take the chair absolutely anywhere. It folds as compactly as standard lounge chairs.

Bungee cords through metal grommets secure the ultra-durable Textilene seat to its lightweight, powder-coated steel frame and give the chair its renowned suspension seating. Textilene is a polyester yarn with a resin coating, woven into very durable and elastic fabric. The arms are made of a hard plastic for durability. Though the steel seat frame resists rust and corrosion and is powder coated to protect it from weathering, the recliner is not meant to be left outdoors year round in all weather. The recliner is designed to be very easy to set up and take down for storing.

Able to hold up to 250 pounds, the recliner measures 63.8 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 29.3 inches high when opened and 36 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 5.7 inches high when closed. It weighs 17.82 pounds and is available in a wide variety of colors for easy accessorizing. Strathwood also offers a variety of anti-gravity and canopy style chairs to accessorize with this one for outdoor enjoyment.

Strathwood furniture has quality, ease of use, and casual elegance at its core. Each piece is rigorously tested for durability, and assembly instructions have been standardized for simplicity from start to finish. Strathwood furniture is sleekly designed, handsomely finished, and built to last. This classic style and reliable craftsmanship will weather ever-changing trends and regular use for years to come.

2cannot be left in the rain  Apr 17, 2009 By Tara "Tara"
I bought three of these chairs last summer. They are actually quite good looking and comfortable, but I didn't know you couldn't leave them in the rain. They immediately rusted and dripped rust on our deck. They must be brought in when it rains, which is not convenient for us. I would not have bought these if I had known they were not weather resistant.

4It is worth the price.  Nov 12, 2008 By Syed M. Hussain "swipe till you wipe"
It is value for your money. The chair is very comfortable and reclines as expected. The only problem was it came without instructions. The shipping box looked like it had to fight a cyclone.
You have to look for the small circular ring under the armrest to adjust the recliner and lock it by lifting it up when the desired position is attained.
Not as great as the 300$ recliners. But definitely worth 60$.

4Anti-Gravity Chari  May 12, 2008 By Bikefeller
Comfortable and well constructed. It came without instructions for operating the reclining mechanism and it's a little tricky. This chair may not be suitable for wide people. It's fairly narrow.

5A Relaxing Joy  Mar 24, 2009 By John N. Schear "cxxi121"
May 19, 2011: UPDATE. It's time to get the Recliner out and go for a third season of use. Without exception this chair looks almost exactly as it looked in 2009 when it arrived. Two seasons of use and it's still like new. After sun, rain and lots of wind I am delighted with the Strathwood.

Do not use this if you have work to do. If you have the slightest bit of sleep in your system and relax in this recliner you are going to go to sleep. I set this up on the deck with the intention of reading a while and then finishing some other tasks related to spring cleanup. Whoops. Some fairy sprinkled sleep dust in my eyes and away I went. Thank goodness our street is populated by a pack of fools driving Harleys who believe they can take the curve out front at 50 MPH in 2nd gear. I don't know about anti-gravity but the recliner-chair is really comfortable.

This recliner is one of those items that far exceed expectations. Having been an ally of old fashioned cheap recliners I was taken aback with the quality and weight of this recliner. It is heavy enough not to get blown away with a breeze or even a strong wind. Unlike the old fashioned cheap ones it will hold with ease those of us who have managed to exceed normal weight limits. You'll have to determine those limits. It holds Blubba and me with ease. Not both of us together. Just one or the other. Maybe both. Later. March 26 update: It is later now and I forgot to include a comment about the included pillow. I was so excited to try out the recliner I forgot to empty the full contents of the packing box. Lo and behold the pillow was there and it sure adds a nice touch to an already nice recliner. Please permit one other comment. The craftsmanship for the recliner is perfect: not rough edges or annoying sharp edges. It's well made. Can't use now: too rainy. Later

3Has design issues...  Nov 20, 2008 By Anthony C. Murphy
Strathwood makes a version of these comfortable chairs but they tweaked the original version in ways that make it difficult to love. First, I have to really push back on it to get it to recline, second, one of the arm-rest locks does not lock and the other is difficult to lock and finally the head cushion is attached with thin elastic that will stretch and slide down within weeks (I drilled and screwed mine in place). Best bet: buy one you can test in a store, often they are cheaper.
